Brain food

Sarapreschool

Sara had her FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL today. Yes, this was a HUGE deal to me, and I think I achieved a new level of corniness this morning by placing a flower next to her breakfast plate. Both mother and daughter survived the day and are doing quite well.

Fool for shoes

This morning, Sara said, "Let's go try on shoes. I'm a fool for shoes!." I like shoes as much as the next girl, but no more than that. I have to wonder where she gets this.

My response? click here. For the full effect, be sure to turn up your volume.

The Sultan's Elephant

Girlgiant

This stunning performance nearly moved me to tears... and I only saw footage of it on YouTube. I can just imagine what it must be like in person. The show by Royal de Luxe  took place in London in May, but  you can still catch it in France -- Calais September 28–October 1 or Le Havre October 26 – 29, 2006. Thanks Tango!

Stuffed animal storage in a beanbag chair

Stuffedanimalbeanbag

If you're like me, then you have a HUGE pile or two of stuffed animals that you can't stand to look at, but couldn't possibly get rid of. I just came across this ingenious solution at babygadget. It's a bag with a couple of little windows where kids can house all of their stuffed animals. When it's full, it makes a nice, clean beanbag chair. It's for sale over at babygeared, although I can't quite figure out what is up with the sizing and the wide range of prices ($60-$400) for these.

Son of a ...

Selfishly, I've kept Sara away from children's music. I just don't want to listen to it, and have always felt that if I don't play it around the house, Sara won't know what she's missing. Plus, it's so darned cute when you ask her who her favorite musician is and she replies with "Bob Dylan." My little plan was working just great until last night when she started saying "son of a bitch" over and over again. That comes from her favorite song, "Memorial Day" by James McMurtry. Guess I'd better get busy downloading some Laurie Berkner.

Babygadget

Just discovered a baby products blog this morning that is fantastic: babygadget. Their tagline is "Contemporary Finds for Modern Tots. Their sister-site (or paybe I should say parent-site), popgadget "Personal Tech + Innovative Lifestyle for Women" is just as wonderful.
